Challenge

A booking marketplace has to hold two truths at once — a slot is available, and a slot is taken — with no window in between. That requires real database transactions, which a plain MongoDB instance does not offer.

Approach

Provisioned a dedicated MongoDB instance as a single-node replica set specifically to enable multi-document transactions, isolated from the shared estate.
Separated development, staging and production into three environments with their own databases and their own ports, so a migration is rehearsed before it is real.
Modelled providers, availability and bookings so that a double-booking is prevented by the database rather than by application-level optimism.

Outcome

A marketplace running across three isolated environments with transactional booking integrity.
