Ramses Books

A sell-and-rent bookshop with a warehouse behind it

Sector: Retail & e-commerce · Year: 2026 · ramsesbooks.com

Summary

A book retail and rental platform with mobile-first cataloguing, ISBN scanning, label printing and full inventory search across the physical stock.

Challenge

The hard part of a second-hand bookshop is not the storefront, it is getting a few hundred physical books into a database accurately, cheaply, and by someone standing in a stockroom holding a phone.

Approach

  • Built cataloguing as a phone-first flow: scan the ISBN, confirm the metadata, assign a shelf reference, print the label.
  • Generated Avery L7654 label sheets directly from the catalogue so the physical stock and the database stay in step.
  • Added an inventory search that answers the only question staff actually ask — where is this book — by reference number, ISBN, title or author.
  • Ran an editorial pipeline alongside the shop, with content rules encoded in the generator, including jurisdiction-specific legal constraints.

Outcome

Several hundred titles catalogued through the mobile flow, with desktop, dashboard and mobile search over the same inventory.
